Welcome To Waverly Oaks Golf Club in Plymouth, Massachusetts

Brian Silva carved this course thru the natural topography of hills and valleys of historic Plymouth, Massachusetts. Waverly Oaks Golf Club is a public, upscale, daily fee golf club. The championship course is a par 72 course with wide forgiving fairways that provides a fair test to golfers.

Silva designed the course with all caliber of players in mind. He also used Waverly Oaks topography to feature classic golf template holes like the “Redan” and “Punch Bowl.” The course moves well through hills and valleys as the golf course also features 100 feet of elevation change. The elevation change is most noticeable on the par-4, 7th hole named “Down” and debatably the most challenging hole on the Cape, the par-4 9th hole, called “Double Trouble.”

The design certainly tempts players to go for aggressive lines and uses bunkering to move golfers away them. However, the green complexes are complicated and will have golfers using all their mind power to get shots closer and in the hole.

Wide fairways and the shorter pines typically found on Cape Cod provide a spacious feeling and generous landing areas. These contribute to better scores and lessens the need for recovery shots. The greens allow for shots from most angles and large approach areas for players to chip from when a golf shot misses the green. Indeed a long course from the back tees at 7,114 yards, the course provides a couple of challenging walks and a few places where having a cart to ride between golf holes is best for the pace of play.

The course remains in excellent condition which, provides for lies in the fairways that allow for golfers to spin irons and greens that roll true. Golfers could play this course repeatedly and not get bored. The green designed by Silva provides captivating contours and pin locations that will invoke the creative side of every golfer. Some will love to think and strategize their way around the course, while others will enjoy the ability to bomb and gouge their way the course.

Silva provides golfers with unique in course views that allow golfers to appreciate the natural aesthetics of the land and the golf course. There is an excellent view from the par 3, 8th hole named “Carry” that provides a view of an up-coming hole and prior golf holes that golfers have played, giving a great perspective of where the golfer has come from during the round.

With golf template holes like the previously mentioned redan, the most memorable part of playing here is the challenging way that Brian Silva uses these ideas to oppose golfers. The course’s value is on par with the price, which is $90-$100 during the prime times of the weekday and weekends. While the super twilight rate during the summer at $55 is an attractive price where golfers get a cart, a small bucket of balls, and 18 holes in before sunset.

Conditions: Excellent conditions that provide for superb lies in the fairways and greens that roll true.

Difficulty: The difficulty lies in the length that golfers choose to play and the ability to play the correct shots around the green to get the ball in the hole.

Practice Green: There are two practice greens that golfers can use before their round. One is next to the clubhouse with minimal slope. There is also a practice green next to the first tee with two tiers that golfers will want to use before they tee off.

Value: The twilight rates provide the best value for golfers.

Range: Yes, and a small bucket is included with the round.
