The Blue Fox Run Golf Course in Avon, Connecticut.

Blue Fox Run Golf Course in Avon, Connecticut, is a 27-hole golf course with plenty of options. This course was designed and marketed as a course for all levels of golf. Choose the correct golf course to get the most enjoyment from playing or challenge yourself and your game with the different 9-hole and 18-hole setups.

There are three options for golfers to choose from for 9 holes and three options for golfers to choose from for 18 holes—each with varying levels of challenging golf. The Red Course is the shorter, newer course featuring a combination of links and classic New England style golf holes. The White Course is a 9-hole golf course for intermediate golfers while the longer Blue Course is the most challenging 9-holes with more on-course water. Golfers can “See the Fox,” which is playing the Red and White Course, or they can Chase the Fox” which represents the Red and Blue Course, or they can “Tame the Fox” by playing the most challenging courses, the White and Blue courses.

Three courses all play differently for different levels of golf. They are one of the few places that have taken the time to develop three distinct golf courses for varying degrees of golfers. This variety is where golfers will find this course enjoyable to play. Rather than the same golf across three courses, Blue Fox Run uses existing styles to differentiate the play on the different 9-hole golf courses.

Golfers will find the conditions most challenging at this time. As the golf course improves, so will the difficulty and playability. The golf courses are recovering from the previous summer weather. There were some areas on the teeing grounds lost, and fairways that became a bit crispy. They both have taken much of the fall and the spring to come back. While the course will bounce back from better weather, the greens remained in splendid condition.

The Talcott, also known as Avon Mountain, sets the background for Blue Fox Run. The course itself lies in the Farmington Valley. For the best view of the mountain, play the White Course as the par 5 5th hole stretches out away from the clubhouse. It offers an unadulterated view. This is still a walker-friendly golf course, as there are no steep climbs, and the routing is uncomplicated with the next tee box within sight of the previous green.

Blue Fox Run Golf Course is one of the most accommodating places and has a friendly staff willing to help golfers, even walk-ons, get out to play during this pandemic. With a $42 weekend price, it would be tough to pass on a golf trip to Blue Fox Run Golf Course.

Conditions: Conditions are on the mend as the season progresses.

Difficulty: Varying degrees for all golfers.

Practice Green: There are two practice greens. One of them has a short game area for practicing pitches and a bunker for sand shots.

Value: At $42 or less, the course has a fantastic price.

Range: There is a driving range open to the public on-site.

Wear a hard hat: This course is spaced out well enough, spare a few areas that are risky for golfers.
