Sagamore Hampton Golf Course in North Hampton, New Hampshire

Updated: Apr 1, 2020

If you have gone through the Hampton tolls on Interstate 95, then you have driven by Sagamore Hampton Golf Course. You may have actually seen it as you drove by as one of the holes is visible from the highway as well. Sagamore Hampton golf course is located in New Hampshire’s seacoast area. These 18 holes offer a fun experience and some challenging greens to play on.

Most golfers will find the course-wide open, making it easy to play from any tee. The course has small greens that can get fast and create some challenges for golfers. If you miss a shot, many places make it easy to recover as most of the greens are susceptible to shots from fairways, and they are relatively unprotected by the surroundings. There are a few hazardous areas on the course.

This is an enjoyable course to walk. However, it can easily get overpacked. Waiting on every hole will make you wish you had a cart to sit down in. There few hills and most are not very long or steep. While walking the course, you will notice the overall conditions of the course are inviting. The course has typical fairways you will find at municipal that had very few burnt-out spots, and they still allow for a good spin. Tees were in ok shape, but nothing a tee cannot solve.

The course features mostly holes short in length. There are a few quirky holes like the par 5, 8th hole that has a large hill in the middle. If you clear that you are left with about 100 yards to the green. There are some holes lined with trees and some that have wide-open expansive fairways with tall wild grass. The length makes it a course that is very easy to score well. There is a premium on hitting greens in regulation. Although there is not much surrounding the greens, saving par can be laborious, depending on the slopes of the greens.

The greens are the most memorable part as they are small targets. They have a tremendous amount of slope to them as well. Notably, the par 5, 8th hole that feels like the green was made before courses could grass as short as they do today.

Conditions: They were up to scratch. The greens are the best part of this course. When the greens are running fast, this course can get a lot more challenging to play. Difficulty: Easier golf course to play. Practice Green: There is a small practice green where they do allow chipping too. Value: Standard, good value for a public golf course at about $50 to play 18 holes. Range: There is no range located at this golf course. However, there is a golf center located down the road. Wear a hard-hat: This course has some short holes. Long hitters will need to be sure that the groups in front have their hard-hats on when dropping bombs onto or near the greens.
