If you cannot get into Lexington Golf Club, your next best option is Pine Meadows, which is located next to Lexington Golf Club.
The course is simple and straightforward, with two par 5s opening the nine holes. There is only one blind tee shot on the par 4, 5th hole where you cannot see the green from the tee. The total yards of the nine holes are less than 2,800 yards, which does take away some challenges associated with having to play a farther shot from the tee.
This course offers ample opportunity to recover from wayward drives and missed approaches to the green. There are few penalty areas and even fewer bunkers that come into play at this course. The variety of shots and hole designs improve towards the end of the 9 holes. My two favorite holes were the 5th and 8th holes. The 5th hole requires a good tee shot of 200 yards or more and moves slightly uphill. The 8th hole requires a well-placed tee shot and a more strategic second shot as the green is tiered. Overall, l the course remained in good condition as the summer heat had hit New England. The greens were definitely a bit longer and therefore rolled a little slower. There were few burned out spots on the course, which made it look aesthetically pleasing to play. The course is relatively flat with few or slight elevation changes. Anyone can score well here, even if you are playing for par or trying to eagle every hole.
The golf course has considerable value, given it is $22 to play nine holes for non-residents of Lexington. It is an easy walk as well, although golf carts are offered here. Unless there are leagues, there is ample tee time availability.
Conditions: Conditions were reasonable, given the heat. The greens and the grass were a bit longer than usual as the summer heat was hitting New England. Difficulty: This is an elementary golf course that plays short. It allows golfers of all abilities to play and enjoy golf. Practice Green: There is a tiny practice green near the first hole, however it felt faster and looked to be in better condition than the rest of the greens on the course. Value: This course has considerable value. There are some clubbable holes for the price of $22 to play nine as a non-resident. Range: There is no range at this golf course, only a couple of nets and mats for warming up. Wear a hard-hat: There are a couple places that you have to be careful when it becomes busy.
