If you are looking to play 9 holes, Woburn Country Club could be the place for you!

Updated: Apr 1, 2020

If you are looking to play a quick round and you find yourself in the Woburn, MA area, then this may be the place for you. If you are looking to get that golf fix, Woburn Country Club is for you. Its roots date back to 1922 when a group of men got together, cleared land, and created the first six holes. The course itself now plays just under 3,000 yards.

The conditions were marvelous, given the heat that we had from the previous weeks' weather. The greens were in great shape. However, when I talked to the starter, it said they were rolling slow, which they were. This also meant they could speed them up as well and were most likely saving them from the stress of the heat. They were in excellent condition, just rolling slow. I would instead prefer slow-paced and green than brown and fast at a municipal. The greens were also small and made them more challenging targets.

There are no par 5s at the course, and the par 3s are elongated, making them more challenging than the par 4s. The course has some fun elevation changes that can allow someone to get closer to the greens on the par 4s from the tee if they know the right line to take. There is an obstacle that should be avoided. The electrical wires that run through about three holes. While most shots pass through, it is still a gamble to try and hit through them. Woburn CC also added a new hole as of September of 2018. The new 9th hole is a par 3 with a fresh new green complex. It was converted from a par 4. The previous green complex was turned into the practice green for the course. I did a flyover of the hole so you can see what it looks like and feel how it would play. The green does not feel out of place and rolls about the same as the rest of the course.

Conditions: The conditions were marvelous. The greens were in excellent condition; however, they were rolling slow. Difficulty: The course is not a challenging one and can be enjoyed by all levels of golfers. Practice Green: The practice green was previously the 9th hole, and it rolls the same as the rest of the course. Value: It is about $20 to play nine and seems to have plenty of availability for those looking to play without a tee time. Range: They have mats with nets to hit into, but it is not a full range. It is still great for warming up the swing before playing. Wear a hard-hat: The course is small and compact, but it does not feel like a hard-hat is needed.
