The golf season has officially started in New England. With most of the snow gone, my friends and I were looking for a place to play the first round of golf of the year. We found a golf course open and ready for play, Blissful Meadows Golf Club in Uxbridge, MA. As it turns out, they stay open all year round (weather permitting). It is one of the few courses that were open in March and had very little snow on the course. The course workers also opened the range for golfers. They allowed us to hit balls at the driving range by taking the time to handpick the range balls from the mud. I really appreciated their effort to make the season opener a great day.
Conditions: It is open! Since it was March and early in the season, it would be an injustice to comment on the health of the golf course, when the grass has not started to grow. Difficulty: The course was straight forward from the tees. They also provide detailed hole layouts and information on how to play each hole on their website. Practice Green: Still lays dormant with last year's aeration holes and top dressing. Value: Great value for anyone looking to play an early-season round. Range: Yes, and it is open. Wear a hard-hat: No need to wear a hard hat here. The holes are spaced well. We did not have to call "fore: or hear a "fore" call for the entire day.
